Institute for Operational Assurance

Proposed annual study

State of Operational Assurance

A proposed research programme examining how organisations translate governance, strategy and controls into reliable execution.

Purpose

The study is intended to build an evidence base for where execution diverges from intent and how organisations currently detect, understand and address that divergence.

Research questions

Areas of investigation may include procedure adherence, detection timing, retrospective assurance, AI-agent governance, ownership, machine-readable policy knowledge, continuous controls and sources of execution friction.

Participation and method

The intended participant group includes enterprise leaders and practitioners across operations, transformation, risk, audit, compliance and technology. The methodology is in formation and will be published before findings are presented.
